ADVANTAGES OF BUNGALOWS:
A good number of our clients are seniors; the older generation – who are often in need or “retirement homes” that are mostly bungalows, and the advantages thereof are evident:
1. EASE OF ACCESS/DISABILITY FRIENDLY
One of the greatest advantages to bungalow living is the ease of accessibility that comes with having all rooms on a single floor, which is suitable for the elderly – as they are spared of the arduous task of using stairs daily; and those with mobility restrictions have the ability to move about their home with greater ease and independence. Open-concept bungalows also make it easy to monitor activities around the house, as everything is generally within easy reach.
2. EASE OF MAINTENANCE
Bungalows are generally easier to maintain — both inside and outside of the home — compared to maisonettes as much of the structure is within easy reach.
3. EASY TO INCORPORATE ADDITIONS/MODIFICATIONS
If additions, remodeling, and refurbishment are on the agenda, a bungalow is a straightforward building to work with as they are easy to expand or modify without affecting the structural components.
The possibility of young children tumbling down the stairs, falling off a balcony, or any dangers associated with height is a common concern for many parents - who also find it difficult to monitor children who are sleeping or playing on a different floor – especially if any of them is of special needs - and requires a lot of attention. Building a bungalow alleviates these concerns, as much of the house is easily accessed.
